This is the second leg of the Toronto section E2E hike, which is divided into four parts. Each part requires separate registration.If you would like to receive the badge for completing all the parts, there is a fee of ten dollars.
IF THE HIKERS WOULD LIKE TO OBTAIN THE NEW FOUND RAISING BADGE, they have the option to e-transfer the fee (The fee is $30.00 for BTC members and $40.00 for non-members) to the TBTC treasurer’s email at tbtctreasurer211@gmail.com and receive it when they complete the section.
Please note that this is a carpool hike, so it’s important to come with an empty car and be prepared for carpooling and sharing rides.
Dress appropriately for the weather conditions. Make sure to bring snacks, lunch, and a minimum of 2 litres of water.
During the hike, we will take short water breaks, as well as a 30-minute lunch break.

From roadside parking at Skinners Bluff, we will follow the President’s Path Side Trail south across a field and through woodland to the Escarpment edge at Esther’s Bluff where lookouts offer views over the Slough of Despond. We’ll return along another side trail that’s forms a loop. Bring water, bug repellent, sunscreen, sturdy footwear and walking poles or sticks if you have them. You will need your cell phone for this hike. We will look for orchids, ferns and birds to use towards the badges offered by the Peninsula Bruce Trail Club. I will show you how to use the Merlin and iNaturalis as well as Seek apps on your phone so please download them before you arrive. You will also need to take photos of any specimen we find.
This is a loop hike so we will start and stop in the same location. Please arrive before 7:30 so we can set off at 7:30 sharp. Please carpool to our meeting location if you can.
Please bring your Bruce Grey Orchid and Fern books if you have them.
Ensure you bring plenty of water, snacks and first aid kit.
There will be lots of stopping as we make our way from the parking lot along the access trail to the main trail, Whippoorwill St, Walter Brewer St, Alan Fowler St, White Bluff St and then back to the parking lot. These Side Trails can also count towards your Side Trails badge.

Hiking 101 is an introductory course for novice hikers, members and non-members alike. If you want some guidance on where to begin, what to wear, and what to take along, this is the course for you. The course is 3 Monday morning sessions with a combination of workshop/Q& A followed by short hikes along the trail. We will meet at roadside parking on Heritage Rd and hike west along the main trail, through Terra Cotta Conservation Area. We will return along the Terra Cotta Side Trail (Caledon Trailway) to Heritage Rd. Terrain is mostly flat, with some hills, and a steep section. This is a 10km hike. Please bring lunch, snacks and water.Note: There are many options for those wishing a shorter hike.

Driving directions: Take QEW to Niagara, continue on exit to Highway 405, General Brock Parkway to Lewiston-Queenston, take last exit to right before US border to Stanley Avenue (102); left on Whirlpool Rd. and left on Niagara River Parkway, you will see Whirlpool golf course on left, continue to Niagara Glen Nature Center on the right, use paying station to print and display the ticket.

Join us on a truly adventurous hike on Niagara River, using steel stairs we will descend down to Niagara River and hike multiple trails of the Glen Trail Network. We will hike close to the roaring river on marked trails, negotiating around some boulders and some narrow paths. We plan to cross over to the Whirlpool Pool spot, conditions permitting, at this place the river takes a 90 degree turn and creates a rare natural wonder, hiking distance 7-10 km.
The lunch break will on a large rock platform overlooking the river, the view all along are just stunning.
Hiking shoes, poles, head cap are strongly recommended, dress according to weather.

We will car pool from Owen Sound to Lion’s Head, km 83.0 Map 38. The number of cars taken will be dictated by the number of people signed up. We will then leave a vehicle(s) and car pool to km 69.6 where we will hike the main trail heading north along the outskirts of the Lion’s Head Provincial Nature Reserve (approx 14 km). We will encounter many scenic outlooks with beautiful views along the way. Too many to list! We will stop at the Lion’s Head Lookout for a picnic lunch then head back to our vehicle(s). Starting at Beaver Valley section km 27.9, we will follow the white blazed trail west toward Duncan Crevice Caves Provincial Nature Reserve. At km 32.6 we will take the Chuck Grant Side Trail to create a loop. This unique and wonderful hike includes a wide variety of terrain, two bridge crossings of Mill Creek, two climbs and descents of the Escarpment, all with spectacular views from Metcalfe and Pinnacle Rocks. This is a very pretty area with lots of wild flowers. There are some rocky sections . We will have one short stop before we reach the Guelph Line. We will walk a short section on the road and then return on a less rocky route.To find the parking area, drive into the school area and as you come to a curve turn right beside the school.
