Distance: Saturday’s hike is approximately 28km. Sunday’s hike is approximately 22km.Description
Plan to hike the Toronto section in late summer over two days.
On Saturday, the bus will take participants to the north end of the Toronto section. Hikers will then hike south to Limehouse – a distance of approximately of 28kms.
On Sunday, the bus will take participants south to Campbellville Rd and Appleby Line where hikers will hike north to Limehouse – a distance of approximately 22kms.There will be checkpoints along the way where light snacks and water will be available. Those who complete the distances on both days will be receive the special Club E2E badge.
Registration cost for members is $50. Refunds will not be issued. Attendance is limited to 100 (two buses). Registration for members begins at 8:30 am and if spots are still available at 8:00 pm on June 17, registration will also be opened for non-members at a cost of $60 each. The fee covers: bus transportation each morning from the hike end location to the hike start, a badge, parking permits, 1 or 2 checkpoints each day. You will hike on your own without a hike leader. Letchworth State Park, renowned as the “Grand Canyon of the East,” is one of the most scenically magnificent areas in the eastern U.S. The Genesee River roars through the gorge over three major waterfalls between cliffs–as high as 600 feet in some places–surrounded by lush forests.We will drive 1.5 hour to the park in the minium amount of cars needed. Once we spot the cars we will hike The Gorge Trail on the lower part of the park, west of the Genesee River, enjoying all the beauty along the way.
After our hike we will go to a diner for late lunch/ early dinner.

Join us to visit the towns of Elora and Fergus of Wellington County, known as “Ontario’s most beautiful village”. (elorafergus.ca)We will walk along the Elora Cataract Trailway into the town of Elora to the Elora Gorge Lookout in Victoria Park.
Ample free time will be given to roam and wander the streets of Elora.
After free time, we will walk along the Trestle Bridge Trail to the Wellington County Museum and Archives where time will be given to visit the museum (general admission is by donation).
After the museum we will continue along the Trestle Bridge Trail into the town of Fergus, visiting Templin Gardens and Confederation Park along the way and end up in downtown Fergus where the Cogs and Clockwork – Fergus Steampunk Festival will be taking place. There will be a refreshment stop here before heading back to the bus.

We will explore Wilder forest and the beautiful scenery of Uxbridge forests.Some safety procedures during the hike:
1-Hikers must stay between the leader and the sweep.
2-Hikers must advise the leader or the sweep if they wish to leave the group.
3- Hikers must follow the whistle instructions: 1 blast- stay where you are; 2 blasts come to the leader; 3 blasts – come to the leader quickly.
4-Hike leader may request volunteers to stop at trail intersections, they need to help hikers to the direction the group walk and wait till they see the sweep .
5-Hikers have to make sure they can see the persons behind and in front of them.

NBTC SUMMER NATURE HIKEJoin us for the NBTC Nature Hike series to learn more about the biodiversity along the Niagara Escarpment. We will explore the trails throughout Louth Conservation Area which offer beauty in all four seasons. Hikes will be held January, May, August & October – it will be amazing to see all the changes throughout the seasons. Your hike leaders, members of the NBTC Biodiversity Committee, will share their knowledge of the amazing flora & fauna along the trail as well as any biodiversity projects in the works for this year.
Parking is at the Louth Conservation Area Parking Lot on Staff Ave. Hiking boots and poles are recommend as the terrain is very rocky in sections.
Note that the hike will be rescheduled in the event of heavy rains or heavy snow. This hike was rescheduled from August so lets hope for good weather!

Complete a Peninsula End to End in a series of 3 multi-day, midweek hikes in September. Successful completion of the entire section will earn hikers a unique Stained Glass badge through the Peninsula Club. A high fitness level and/or prior experience with hiking on difficult terrain is essential. Participants should be physically capable of hiking up to 22 km per day over 3-4 consecutive days. In this loop hike we will follow the main trail east to Metcalfe Rock Side Trail. Take time to explore the rock formations and crevices then continue north on the main trail to Chuck & Pat Grant Side Trail. Hike this trail to the mail trail with a stop along the way at Pinnacle Rock then back to our cars.Add on – Mushroom Hunter Badge. Let’s go hunting for mushrooms and other fungi. The magic of the search is in the slowing down and noticing. From the forest floor to trunks of trees, keep a keen eye out as you search for a minimum of 20 different varieties of fungi.

COVID-19 Precautions Before, During and After your Hike
- Each hiker joining a Bruce Trail Club organized hike must perform a self-screening check before hiking.

Transportation
It is the Bruce Trail Conservancy’s current policy that car shuttles are allowed. It is at the discrepancy of individual hike leaders to make that decision.
Other Guidelines
- Arrive 15 minutes before the start of the hike.
- Wear sturdy footwear and appropriate attire for the weather and the terrain.
Hiking poles are a good idea in any season, especially if the terrain is rocky or slippery. In winter, snowshoes or icers/crampons are needed when conditions dictate.
Wearing appropriate clothing and footwear prevents injuries and shows consideration for a safe and positive group hiking experience. - Always carry I.D. and your health card.
- Bring sufficient water and snacks (or lunch if indicated). A minimum of 1L of water is recommended on all hikes, and 3L is recommended for long, challenging hikes in the heat of the summer.
- Bring sunscreen and insect repellent (for spring and summer hikes).
- Bring your own first aid kit.
- Please leave dogs at home.

We will leave the parking lot at 9:30 am SHARP via the NEW “Kilbride Pass” (Yippee) and enter the woods of Yaremko Nature Reserve. We will continue on the BT past the calcium pits over to Guelph Line where we will enter Crawford CA. Staying on the main BT we will make our way to the lookout over the Nassagaweya Canyon where we will stop for lunch (alternate if weather is bad is the Info Centre). We will use alternate trails where we can to make our way back to the cars.

From roadside parking at km 55.1, we will hike west via the Peter Beecham Side Trail until we reach 3rd Line EHS. At this point, we will retrace our steps and return to the parking lot connecting with the Griffith Ravine Side Trail at Km 56.2 along the way.Hikers can join the Griffith Ravine Side Trail at km 56.2 and return to the parking lot. (2.7 km hike)
