You are invited to join us on a hike to celebrate hike leader Stuart Law’s 60th birthday. After the hike there will be the opportunity to wish him well at the St. George Pub in Georgetown at 2-30 pm just a few minutes drive away.

There will be another hike for those who would like a longer more strenuous hike which will be listed in the Dufferin section of the website. Stuart will lead the long hike which will start earlier so we can all end up  together for the social.

Please meet at the Bruce Trail parking area  at the farm at 10-00 a.m. for a 10-15 a.m. start.

The route will be approximately 9km based on weather and trail conditions. I will avoid the most rocky areas.

It will be snowy and icy underfoot so you must have icers with you. Winter clothing  necessary and spare dry clothing and shoes in your car will make the apres hike more comfortable. Bring a snack and water or warm drink

Stuart would like this to be a low key sociable event so please don’t bring gifts.

Pace: Leisurely (2.0 – 3.0 km/h): A relaxed pace with frequent breaks and a focus on enjoyment.
Terrain: Easy: Flat forested sections or lowland trails., Moderate: Rolling hills, mild slopes and rocky paths.
    Distance: ~3 1/2 km

    Description

Meet on Everett Road near Bruce County Road 9. Park on Everett Road. On this out-and-back hike (~3 1/2 km) we will head south and explore the  Main Trail through the Bull Homestead meadow, mixed forest of Spirit Rock Conservation area and on to The Corran.  The verdant green of winter ferns and the many different tracks of local birds and animals along the trail remind us that Mother Nature slows down, restores and rejuvenates herself during the winter months. We will maintain a steady pace briefly stopping for view of Colpoys Bay and nutrition break at The Corran – taking about 2 hour. Bring water and a snack. Winter hiking requires extra preparation! Please wear layered clothing, warm winter hiking boots, face covering (if windy), mittens and winter hat. Hiking poles and gators are recommended. Depending on weather conditions – you may need snowshoes and icers. For those wanting to warm up after the hike – join us at Lost Art Espresso in Wiarton for coffee before heading home.
