    Description

We will meet at Harrison Park in Owen Sound at 9:30 and car shuttle to the the Visitor’s Information Centre at the harbour.

The salmon’s journey – and ours – will start at the harbour then continue through the River District to the Tom Thompson Art Gallery where we will stop briefly to view Tom Thompson’s – Homecoming Exhibition. This exhibition explores the role that Owen Sound and surrounding areas played in his artistic growth and his emergence as a national icon (entrance to the museum is by donation). We will then carry on to the fish ladder where we will see the salmon leaping and thrashing there way to the top of the mill dam. We will follow the salmon to Harrison Park and then continue to the Grey Sauble Conservation where we will learn more about their migration and observe them in shallow spawning channels. We will continue to Inglis Falls where we will have a great look-out point to observe the fall colours and then head back to Harrison Park via the main trail and the Harrison Park Side Trail. Once back at the park, for those that are interested, we will stop for lunch at the Inn.

This route follows sidewalks, dirt walkways and paved trails en route to the Bruce Trail near Harrison Park. From there, we will take the Trail to the Grey Sauble Conservation, Inglis Falls and then back to Harrison Park.
