Come and join the group to view nice sceneries and look out of Happy valleySome safety procedures during the hike:
1-Hikers must stay between the leader and the sweep.
2-Hikers must advise the leader or the sweep if they wish to leave the group.
3- Hikers must follow the whistle instructions: 1 blast- stay where you are; 2 blasts come to the leader; 3 blasts – come to the leader quickly.
4-Hike leader may request volunteers to stop at trail intersections, they need to help hikers to the direction the group walk and wait till they see the sweep .
5-Hikers have to make sure they can see the persons behind and in front of them.

Join us for a lovely hike through Nassagaweya Canyon, a pre-glacial valley created by rivers carving through sedimentary rock on the Niagara Escarpment. We will start around Appleby Line and Steeles Avenue and then venture down into the canyon. We will do a loop around Crawford Lake along the boardwalk and discuss its special properties in science as a meromictic lake. We will then head further down through the Crawford Forestry Tract where our hike will end at Twiss Road.Required: hiking boots. Please bring 2 L of water.
Drop out at Guelph line at about 10 km. Depending on the weather conditions and participants, we may either end the hike here or continue on to Twiss road.

We will be carpooling from Woodend to Laura Secord House, 29 Queenston St, Queenston to start the hike. Hiking poles, water, snacks are recommended. Bug spray and sun screen may be needed.After the second hike (July 22) you will qualify to purchase the Laura Secord badge. They will be made available at the end of the second hike. $10 for members, $15 for non-members

The GO $10.00 Transit Day Pass, available for smart phones, is valid for return travel on GO Transit. Hikers without a smart phone may purchase the Day Pass from the Hike Leader. Seniors return fare from Union is $11.06.

We’ll also pass by the historic train station and railway museum. Join us on Hike 7 of our Human Hiking Beaver Valley section E2E. We are leaving the valley proper now on our way to Blantyre. Be ready for some rough walking on some ancient road allowance roads.
