The hike will begin at the Fairmount Side Trail and form a loop taking in both the Siegerman Side Trail and the Allan Side Trail. This 3.5 hour hike has a relaxing start past magnificent Webwood Falls. Some road hiking turns into a steep descent to Joe Pye Weed stream. Today’s hike will take us from City View Park to Smokey Hollow and back. Depending on conditions we may include the McNally and Norman Pearson Side Trails which will include a long climb up Grindstone Creek to Smokey Hollow. Meet at 9:45 am. for a 10:00 am. start in the first parking lot on your right in the most southerly parking lot of City View Park (not the one with the soccer fields and baseball diamonds on Kerns Rd). Bring water, a snack, icers and poles if using. If cancelling after 4:00 pm. on the day before please email leader or text.

The distinctions found in twigs, buds and bark are just some of the clues we will be seeking, with the assistance of our guide, Adam Brylowski, an ecologist on staff at the BTC.Please dress for the weather, and along with your curiosity, I suggest a hot drink, water and lunch or snack. Each Friday we will explore different neighbourhoods, trails and parkland throughout Historic Niagara-on-the-Lake.
Moderate pace with some weeks entirely on sidewalks and roads while others may include a mix of trails and paved pathways. Great way to build up endurance for longer more strenuous hikes.
Prepare for cooler windy conditions on open parkland and along Lake Ontario and Niagara River trails.

Description
Due to lack of snow at Scenic Caves, we will be going to Arrowhead Provincial Park. No trail fees at Arrowhead! Bus cost includes park admission. No après ski and shoe party.Bus departs 10 York Mills Rd at 8 AM and Major Mackenzie Dr and HWY 400 Park and Ride at 8:20 AM. If you wish to be picked up at the Major Mackenzie Dr and HWY 400 Park and Ride, select that option when you register. Please arrive 15 minutes before departure. The bus waits for no one.
Join us for an awesome day of skiing and snowshoeing at Arrowhead Provincial Park. For information about trail conditions visit: https://www.ontarioparks.com/skireport. For information about the park visit: https://www.ontarioparks.com/park/arrowhead. Snowshoers: Join David and Brenda for a guided snowshoe hike. The group will maintain a comfortable level II pace, through forest and moderate hills and cover about 10 KM. Prepare to be outside for four hours. If you prefer, you can explore the parks trails with a friend at your own pace. Skiers: Enjoy forests, fields, rolling hills, and Arrowhead Lake on trails groomed for classic and skate skiing. After skiing or snowshoeing spend some time snow tubing (if open) or ice skating in the forest (if open).
Ski and snowshoe rentals available.
There are no food services in the park. Pack water/tea and lunch.
Coach fares and park admission must be paid online when you register. Masks are mandatory on the bus.

After leaving the cars at the Gibraltar Sideroad 6 parking lot, we will follow the John Haigh Side Trail past the highest point on the Bruce Trail until it joins the white blazed trail. We will continue to follow the white blazed trail south across the Pretty River Road, across 30/31 Sideroad Nottawasaga and then up the hill to the Standing Rock and Caves Side Trail leading to the Singhampton Caves in the Nottawasaga Lookout Nature Reserve. After a scramble through the caves and a climb back up to the white blazed trail, we will loop back around and down on the white blazed trail. Bring lots of snacks, lunch and water. 3- Hikers must follow the whistle instructions: 1 blast- stay where you are; 2 blasts come to the leader; 3 blasts – come to the leader quickly.
4-Hike leader may request volunteers to stop at trail intersections, they need to help hikers to the direction the group walk and wait till they see the sweep .
5-Hikers have to make sure they can see the persons behind and in front of them.

Join me and the Toronto Bruce Trail Club for a hike on Sat, Jan 21, 2023, 8:30am!Looking for adventure and exploration? Let’s get off the trail and explore the area. Join me on this Queen Elizabeth II Wildlands PP exploratory hike.
This is an advanced hike!
MANDATORY EQUIPMENT: Hiking boots, trail crampons, snowshoes and headlamps. DO NOT show up without these items, you will NOT BE ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE.
At the trailhead we will evaluate conditions and determine whether we will wear, carry or leave our snowshoes. Hiking poles and gaiters are highly recommended. They will come in handy when crossing over beaver dams.
Expect to spend 6-8 hrs hiking 14-18 km, depending upon the conditions and the groups ability, mostly off the trail over rugged topography, We’ll explore forests, rock barrens and views. Our feet may get a little wet as we navigate our way around and over ponds (beaver dam), creeks (rocks, logs), lakes (We will NOT be travelling on ice) and beaver dams. There will be lots of elevation change and challenges.
Bring snacks, lunch, water.
Check the weather in advance and dress accordingly in layers.
There will be no dropouts and no dogs.

Join us for a hike through serene Birkdale Ravine after which we will walk on St. Andrews Road, a street that time left behind, with historical buildings including an 1849 church, the sexton’s house, and Scarborough’s first public library. We’ll hike some more, distance depending on the conditions of the day, and return by way of the Scarborough Museum comprised of four heritage buildings moved to Thomson Memorial Park. The fire in the old hearth and hot drinks are welcoming at the end of a Winter’s Day hike on the park trails and adjacent heritage neighborhood. Admission to the museum is free
